Overview

The Localization Manager is responsible for New Product Implementation in the Supply Chain Center North America. What is needed to excel in this position is proven experience as a Localization Manager, as well as demonstrated diverse experience in technical aspects around Localization and/or Internationalization.

The role requires the ability to work in an environment that is fast paced and to work autonomously and manage to aggressive delivery schedules. Also important is the ability to successfully work with technical and non-technical people alike, and a desire to learn new tools, processes and concepts are skills necessary for this position.

A critical challenge is the ability to manage the work of internal teams and external suppliers located around the world.  Daily work requires the management of technical and visual quality, coordination with staff, setting of budgets and management of costs and motiva­tion of team members.  The correct project localization strategy, as defined by the localization manager, can produce high impact results and can shorten localization time-to-market, reduce costs and help the company achieve its global business objectives.

The Localization Manager will be part of Supply Chain Center North America, and will report to the Manager of Strategic Sourcing.

Responsibilities

  • Manages localization projects from beginning to end, working closely with engineers, product management and research & development, internal business partners and external vendors and other departments.
  • Develops project plans and workflows, managing time, budget, resources and quality control.
  • Creates and manages internal version of localization project plans.
  • Creates and controls localization project budgets, performs cost tracking analysis, ensures timely issuance of purchase orders and invoices and approves work reports.
  • Analyzes risks, and defines mitigation actions of identified risks.
  • Identifies and solves localization issues or disagreements, whether system or product, identifies causes and performs corrective/preventative action.
  • Directing team’s deliveries to timelines and product quality, including responsiveness and professionalism towards both internal and external clients.
  • Leads project business meetings and conference calls, including project kick-off meetings, weekly and ad-hoc, issue solves and performs post-mortems, while ensuring meetings are recorded and minutes distributed, manages the delivery of agreed upon active items.
  • Presents regular reports to stakeholders and peers on progress and forecast of project team’s work status, escalating issues and evaluating needed support.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Engineering (or similar field) or Supply Chain preferred.
  • Solid in-depth knowledge of internationalization and localization.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience directly related to project management (preferably in the localization industry).
  • Excellent verbal and written English communication skills.
  • Excellent presentation/communication skills, with the ability to clearly present the localization life-cycle to stakeholders & peers.
  • Organizational and leadership skills, problem solving capabilities and quality / detail oriented.
  • Proven abilities in project planning, resource and risk management.
  • Strong team player in a multi-cultural environment.
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines under pressure.
  • Strong understanding of statistical analysis.
  • Advanced Excel skills is a big plus (formulas, pivot tables, macros, lookup tables, etc.)
  • Experience with ERP systems (JD Edwards is preferred).
