Overview

The Sourcing Manager is responsible for building-up and maintaining the supplier base that our company needs to sell and execute our projects. At all times the supplier base should be in such shape that it is in balance with the business needs of the organization. During the execution of the projects, the Sourcing Manager supports the Supply Chain Coordinators and Buyers in defining the Supply Chain strategy for each project and by monitoring the entire procurement process from specification to delivery of the goods and/or services. The Sourcing Manager will be part of Supply Chain Center North America, and will report to the Manager of Strategic Sourcing.

 

The Sourcing Manager will be responsible for developing a strategy and managing several supply categories. The categories managed range from mechanical and electrical components to complete turn-key systems.

Responsibilities

·          Manage multiple categories:

o    Performing supply market research / identifying possible new suppliers

o    Developing category strategy by:

    •  Analyzing internal business need
    •  Defining external supply market possibilities
    •  Identifying potential added value within category (e.g. cost savings)
    •   Agreeing on approach to capture added value

o    Implementing category strategy (after approval by stakeholders)

o    Realizing added value for the business

·          Source one or more categories:

o    Creating program of requirements (PoR)

o    Setting selection and awarding criteria to assess suppliers and their proposals

o    Developing RFP’s and supplier long list

o    Assessing proposals

o    Negotiating with suppliers

o    Creating framework contracts

·          Implement framework contracts:

o    Implementing and managing framework contracts (or delegating it to framework contract manager)

·          Set up and lead a category team

·          Influence stakeholders

o    Setting up the right team / representation

o    Informing stakeholders

o    Getting alignment

o    Getting approval for category strategy

·          Improve continuously

o    Improving the process (sourcing and related processes);

o    Benchmarking across projects and with other companies

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Engineering (or similar field) or Supply Chain preferred.
  • Minimum 8 years of experience in Procurement with at least 5 years in a Senior position.
  • Prior experience in the material handling systems industry or similar (Construction/Contracting or Engineering industry)
  • Experience with Manufacturing processes and Activity Based Costing in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience with make-to-stock, make-to-order, and engineer-to-order manufacturing systems
  • Must be willing and able to travel up to 20%.
  • APICS certification (CSCP, CPIM or related) is preferred.
  • Experience with MS Office (specifically Excel)
  • Experience with ERP systems (JD Edwards is preferred).
  • Excellent negotiating, contracting and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work in an entrepreneurial organization where cooperating with others and being a team member is essential.
