    Vanderlande’s Engineering Department is responsible for the design, specification and commissioning of material handling systems for our customers. In this position you will be responsible for ensuring that all the work involving the 3D model files and drawings- to sell, build, or maintain a Vanderlande conveyor system- will be done according to the needs of our client. The AutoCAD Drafter reports directly to the Manager, Systems Design.


    • Work closely with Business Development, Systems Engineering, Project Management, Controls Engineering and the Installation teams to create the necessary documentation based on customer requirements and VI standards.
    • Translate customer requirements into a 3D model in cooperation with the Project Engineer following well defined conveying rules and principles.
    • Create conveyor manifests to assist the sales estimation team.
    • Execute components of layout task within scheduled planning and to acceptable level of quality while being cost conscious.
    • Develop mechanical installation drawings required for system assembly.
    • Generate elevations and cross-sections of system equipment per layout.
    • Create customer submittal package sets and maintain revision control.
    • Prepare header steel, platform and special equipment details as required under the direction of the supervising engineer.
    • Coordinate construction details with structural engineer and airport building team.
    • Create and maintain as-built drawings and models based on field measurements.
    • Provide practical support and problem solving during installation and project execution.
    • Identify and report problems based on experience and review of drawings and model.
    • Perform site inspections as requested.




    • Ability to learn new technical skills involved in maintaining or improving the AutoCAD Drafter process and take direction from supervising engineers.

    Basic Qualifications:

    • Certificate or Diploma of technology in Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical or Architectural Drafting program.
    • Knowledge of Autodesk NavisWorks.
    • CAD experience in any or all of the following areas: Architectural floor plans, creating and using 3D dynamic blocks, 3D solid editing, and creating layouts using external reference files is required.
    • 1-2 years of industry experience.
    • Eletrical or mechanical knowledge is preferred.
    • Knowledge of AutoCAD including proven working experience with 3D AutoCAD.
    • Experience with Microsoft Office, Windows, databases, NavisWorks.


    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Experience with Automated Material Handling Systems
