The Health, Safety and Environment Officer (Construction Safety Officer) is responsible for working with management and employees to ensure a safe and healthy working environment. The HSE Officer will work directly with our subcontractors and our customers to ensure that the safety program is compliant with all applicable laws and best practices, implemented in an organized and efficient manner, and protective of the employees’ health and safety. The incumbent will maintain a constructive relationship with construction and service operations, while ensuring program compliance through comprehensive audits, inspections and tracking. This person will also manage the utilization of safety program software. This role will report into the HSE Manager/Program Manager, Safety in Marietta, GA and will be based on site at our construction site and office in the Los Angeles area. This role will maintain a tight connection with the project and site management for a large LA airport project.


Conduct organized and professional administration of a comprehensive safety program.

  • Ensure compliance with applicable law and safety requirements for worksite conditions, processes, training, inspections, and auditing.
  • Ensure that installation, operation, and maintenance operations departments receive excellent service in safety program administration, guidance, and support.
  • Ensure that the company maintains effective and independent administration of compliance and tracking of training, inspections, and audits.
  • Identify and eliminate injury possibilities.
  • Perform periodic and regular site safety audits and inspections.
  • Report on safety status, findings, and progress.
  • Conduct training sessions for company corporate and technical employees.
  • Audit and evaluate safety of construction, service, and office locations across multiple projects and regions.
  • Develop reports with action items and follow up to ensure completion of action items.
  • Analyze accident/incident trends and develop/implement recommendations to improve safety behaviors and safety record.
  • Write procedures in organized, clear, compliant, and professional manner.
  • Represent the company and provide expert guidance through inspections by regulatory agencies and insurance companies.
  • Respond quickly to reports of safety incidents, manage investigations, and remedial actions.
  • Ensure that the specific Health and Safety Plans are accurate, effective, and compliant.
  • Manage the responsibility for establishment and maintenance of effective communication and coordination with company personnel and all levels of Management.
  • Establish and maintain good working relationships with the peers, management, and site personnel.
  • Prepare, maintain and submit site-specific safety documentation.


  • Ability to accurately perceive safety issues using senses, including Detect, Determine,
  • Perceive, Identify, Recognize, Judge, Observe, Inspect, Estimate, and Assess.
  • Understands and can demonstrate issue identification, resolution, tracking, and reporting
  • Detailed knowledge of construction and industrial safety requirements.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills.
  • High levels of independence and assertiveness, and high ethical standards.
  • Ability to effectively explain and integrate safety requirements with operational efficiencies.

 Basic Qualifications:

  • At least 5 years of experience managing construction safety program as a Certified Safety Professional (CSP) OR a Construction Health and Safety Technician (CHST) with 10 years pertinent experience.
  • Experience providing expert guidance through work safe inspections and litigation.
  • Operations are in secured areas of airports. Ability to pass background checks to the extent required by airport authorities is required.
  • Must be willing and able to travel domestically 20% and occasionally international.
  • Valid passport is required

 Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Automated Material Handling Systems
  • Specialized experience in energy protection procedures and energized work.
  • Experience with industrial maintenance or manufacturing, especially with material conveying systems.
  • Experience managing different provinces safety programs.
  • Prefer bi-lingual (English/Spanish)
