  • Overview

    Vanderlande’s Engineering Department is responsible for the design, specification, and commissioning of Material Handling Systems, Warehouse Automation and Parcel Sortation systems for our customers throughout North America. In this position, you will be working with an engineering project team in the implementation of an airport baggage handling system.  You will be responsible for ensuring the design meets the customer requirements, is coordinated with other trades to minimize conflicts during installation, documentation accuracy and control, installation validation, and a site team liaison with the engineering team in Marietta.

    Responsibilities

    Responsibilities & Tasks:

     

    • BIM coordination with the customer and other trades
    • Documentation of BIM related requests and changes directed at VI
    • Conduct site surveys to validate installation
    • Managing and resolving engineering related site issues
    • Specify the mechanical equipment required, including both Vanderlande manufactured and third party purchased items
    • 3D modeling of systems and associated 2D layout drawings in conjunction with the Layout Engineers
    • Engineering of non-standard mechanical interfaces
    • Apply safety regulations and ergonomics
    • Maintain a motor manifest with respect to electrical and controls engineering requirement
    • Document all engineering decisions through design plans, complete and clear installation files, and engineering instructions directed to a site supervisor and installation subcontractor
    • Support the installation and commissioning 
    • Project document control using a rights based database syste
    • As-built documentation of installation

    Qualifications

    Basic Qualifications:

    • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering
    • Minimum 3 years of relative work experience
    • Proficient in AutoCAD 2D, with 3D proficiency is a plus
    • Travel required for initial training

    Knowledge-Skills-Abilities:

    • Ability to think conceptually (overall system) and translate this into a detailed system design
    • Ability to work in an entrepreneurial organization where cooperating with others and being a team member is natural
    • Strong communicator, able to effectively understand and set expectations for deliverables
    • Able to handle time sensitive situations and quickly set the right priorities, while maintaining a firm grasp of the details
