    The Director will lead the Project Management Office (PMO) for Vanderlande North America. This role will be involved in the delivery of complex cross-functional multi-million-dollar material handling projects for both Airport Baggage Handling, as well as Warehouse Automation and Parcel Sortation throughout North America. The PMO provides Project Planning and Coordination functional support to project delivery and sales teams. The PMO Director will have direct oversight of and responsibility for the continuous development of the project management process. The PMO Director will support PM community development by dissemination of best practices, knowledge sharing and development opportunities. The PMO delivers project & executive reporting and analysis, interfaces with Project teams, Operational and Business Management regarding Operations.  The PMO Director will have direct managerial responsibility for the team and resources assigned to the PMO. We are seeking a business & project management professional with an operational background and in depth understanding of executing major capital projects in a multi-disciplinary environment. We are a fast-paced matrixed organization seeking a person with not only the technical background to do the job but just as importantly ability to work in a team environment.


    Job Tasks & Responsibilities:

    • Project Planning (Scheduling) for all the projects 
    • Develop and maintain tools for capacity planning and resource management across all of Operations 
    • Creation of tools/methodology for Project Reporting (Reporting cycle and project Dashboard) 
    • Project performance monitoring 
    • Process Definition, Guidance and Assurance (Process Map Level 4) 
    • Ensure adherence to process 
    • Lessons Learned process and facilitation, and feedback into processes and training (Continuous Improvement) 
    • Knowledge Sharing (best practice for execution for PM and SM) 
    • Project team support (project coordinators) 
    • Manage PM and SM onboarding plan (training carousels, scheduling, capability management)
    • Maturity assessment (gap analysis) of the Operations Department (continuous improvement) 


    Basic Qualifications:

    • Minimum 10 years of experience in capital business environment.
    • Minimum 7 years of Project Management experience demonstrating increasing levels of project value and complexity.
    • Experience with completion of medium sized projects ($15-25M) in the Construction and/or Material Handling Industry.
    • Minimum 5 years of experience in People / Resource Management
    • Must be willing and able to travel up to 25%. (Note: Most travel is done on weekdays)

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • BS Degree in a related technical field (STEM).
    • PMP, P.E., or LEED Certification/Accreditation.
    • Experience working capital project environment.
    • Experience working for an international organization.



    • Project Management in capital projects including Engineering, Procurement & Construction scope.
    • OPM3 understanding and ability to adapt and apply principles in fast-growing organization
    • Awareness of Project Planning principles.
    • MS Office and project scheduling software (Primavera).
    • Experience in Process Development, Maintenance and Improvement.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to train others.
    • Independent decision-making ability with strong financial acumen.
    • Ability to interact with a diverse team of internal disciplines in an international business setting.
    • Persuasiveness: Ability to get things done with peers and management by influence.
    • People Management: Leadership capability to create a unified and motivated team.
