  • Overview

    Vanderlande’s Site Management Development Program is looking for four individuals to join our team. As a Site Management Trainee you will gain experience and skills with construction operations, engineering operations, client development and management subcontractor relations, project planning, site safety, corporate culture and organizational skills, to promote and succeed within the Operations business. You will work closely with our Site Supervisors, Site Managers and engineers to gain experience with managing and supporting the installations and engineering of Vanderlande’s material handling systems.

     

    Vanderlande’s Site Management development program is designed for recent college graduates who have a driving desire to succeed in a technical leadership role within the industrial automation industry.  

    • Development Trainees will be selected to receive a hands-on learning experience for 12 months starting July 2, 2018.
    • To be eligible applicants must be no more than 2 years post graduation from an accredited technical or vocational school or university.
    • This is a paid opportunity with full package benefits
    • You will have the opportunity to travel to Veghel, Netherlands and to our site projects within North America
    • You will be expected to work a minimum of 40 hours per week; working schedules may be outside of normal business hours: Monday through Friday.
    • Full-time employment is not guaranteed at the end of the program

    Responsibilities

    Responsibilities (included but not limited to):

     

    Organizational Skills

    • Set up and maintain a jobsite office
    • Set up and maintain all jobsite records, including project directory, subcontractor directory, submittal logs, RFI logs, subcontractor correspondence engineering instructions, etc.
    • Maintain all onsite construction documents, including plans, specifications, shop drawings, as-builts drawings and associated revisions to be communicated with the engineering department for further development
    • Fill out and maintain reports as directed
    • Check and process as-builts submitted by the sub-contractor

     

    Construction Operations

    • Install proper site signage and postings
    • Identify items required to “make safe” on the job site.
    • Participate in site inspections to ensure Vanderlande’s expectations for quality and workmanship are met
    • Assist with all proactive quality plans, inspections, benchmarking and reporting of quality issues
    • Take responsibility for and manage specific construction tasks assigned to them
    • Basic material take offs, place supplier orders and receive delivery of materials
    • Read and interpret coordination drawings and specifications
    • Assist the Site Management team with safety compliance
    • Assist the installations teams with the development of processes
    • Site logistical support
    • Work with engineering teams closely for solutions and problem solving

     

    Subcontractor Relations

    • Set up and run a subcontractor foremen’s meeting when directed by the Site Manager
    • Assist with influencing and developing better ways of working with the subcontractors

     

     

    Financial / Risk Management

    • Understand cost implications and consequences associated with specific installation tasks at various stages of a project
    • With the site manager review progress payments and understand PSA/ISA and other contractual documents

     

    Project Planning

    • Work with the planning teams to update project schedules
    • Make periodic updates to the project schedule as directed
    • Assist in the inspection process and execute the inspections within your project’s jurisdiction

     

    Project Safety

    • Assist in the implementation of Vanderlande’s corporate safety program and apply it on the jobsite
    • Conduct weekly safety meetings and toolbox talks when directed
    • Complete all required safety reports when directed
    • Assist with implementing Vanderlande’s safety culture

     

    Corporate Culture

    • Maintain a neat appearance in accordance with corporate policies at all times while representing Vanderlande
    • Maintain the respect of their peers in all business dealings
    • Participate actively in corporate functions

    Qualifications

    Basic Qualifications:

    • Associates or Bachelor's degree in a technical field (Electrical Engineering, Industrial Technology, Construction, Automotive, etc.)
    • Must be no more than 2 years post graduation from an accredited technical or vocational school or college
    • Ability and willingness to travel up to 75% (Domestic or international)
    • Must be willing and able to obtain a passport

     

    Knowledge-Skills-Abilities:

    • Excellent/professional communication skills (verbal and written)
    • Ability to multi-task
    • Knowledge of Microsoft Office
