    Vanderlande’s Productivity Solutions Business is responsible for the design, specification, commissioning and support of mission critical technology and systems for our customers. We are currently seeking a Project Lead and in this position, you will be working with an engineering and production project team in the development of a functional system.  You will be responsible for ensuring the design meets the customer requirements, is coordinated with other trades to minimize conflicts during installation, can be installed with efficiency, and maintain excellent communication with the site team and customers.

    Responsibilities

    Job Responsibilities:

    • Translate customer drawings and specifications into a fully functional system solution
    • Travel to site as needed to conduct site surveys, manage installs and provide sustaining support
    • Optimize the functionality from as-sold to a working design within the budget in consultation with other disciplines (Controls, Supply Chain, Installation, etc.)
    • Oversight of systems design in conjunction with the Layout Engineers
    • Engineering of non-standard mechanical interfaces
    • Apply safety regulations and ergonomics
    • Specify the necessary equipment with respect to manufactured and purchased items
    • Document all engineering decisions through complete and clear installation files and engineering instructions directed to a site support personnel, installation subcontractor and TSA management
    • Support the installation and commissioning both on site, and from the Marietta office
    • Project document control and reporting (budgets, deliverables)

    Qualifications

    Basic Qualifications

    • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering
    • Minimum 2 years of experience
    • Proficient in AutoCAD 2D and 3D
    • Must be willing and able to travel domestically and internationally
    • Ability to think conceptually (overall system) and translate this into a detailed system design
    • Ability to work in an entrepreneurial organization where cooperating with others and being a team member is natural
    • Strong communicator, able to effectively understand and set expectations for deliverables
    • Able to handle time sensitive situations and quickly set the right priorities, while maintaining a firm grasp of the details

     

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Ability to think conceptually (overall system) and translate this into a detailed system design
    • Ability to work in an entrepreneurial organization where cooperating with others and being a team member is natural
    • Strong communicator, able to effectively understand and set expectations for deliverables
    • Able to handle time sensitive situations and quickly set the right priorities, while maintaining a firm grasp of the details

     

    Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:

    Full time position; 24/7 operation; 3 shifts; overtime and weekend work is common.

     

    Travel:

    This position requires Min 75% travel.

     

    Supervisory Responsibility:

    This position has supervisory responsibilities.

    The employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.

     

    While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed the baggage handling system, mechanical parts and vibration. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud. Ear protection should be worn.

     

    The Project Manager will encounter mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic equipment. They move items, a job that can involve frequent bending and lifting. They spend most of their time on the airport floor, or shop. They also spend time writing reports and work orders.
