  • Overview

    The Operations Department is responsible for systematically and efficiently managing contract execution and analysis for the purpose of maximizing financial and operational performance. In this position, you will be responsible for leading a project team focused on targeted customer(s) or market area(s). The Operations Manager reports directly to the Regional Director, Western Canada with a strong connection to our North American and Dutch counterparts.

    Responsibilities

    • Manages administrative, contractual, technical and financial controls of all current projects.
    • Ensures that our client’s delivery meets all aspects of customer system contract performance, including functional specifications, system performance, safety, scheduling, and staffing. Internal requirements on cost control, accounts receivables, profitability and improving customer relations must be met as well.
    • Ensures safe, effective, and profitable performance of customer contract obligations.
    • Leads the team in executing all activities, including subcontractors.
    • Leads the team in project problem analysis, decision-making, financial review meetings and technical review meetings.
    • Coordinates closely with other department to ensure effective interactions.
    • Serves as a proactive manager and problem solver, in addition to coaching and mentoring the team and assisting in complex issues and situations as they arise.
    • Makes improvement proposals in project execution that can enhance quality and performance, or reduce costs or risks. Executes/leads these improvements.
    • Focuses on continuous development of the individual members of the team and the team as a whole.
    • Oversees the safety program managed by the Construction Safety Officer.

     

    Qualifications

    • BS in Engineering plus 5-10 years Project Management experience; experience with management of $1 M - $50 M projects simultaneously. Preferably in the Material Handling Industry.
    • Minimum 5 years of proven leadership experience.
    • Excellent and proven leadership capabilities in creating unified and motivated project teams.
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
    • Sound, independent decision-making ability.
    • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written skills.
    • Able to motivate and lead multi-disciplined teams responsible for complex project(s).
    • Manager capacity and skills in an international environment with an affinity for intercultural aspects.
    • Able to make the translation of the department strategy to a clear vision of how the group and individual employees should function in the short and long term.
    • Excellent ability to negotiate.
    • Sound knowledge of contract law.
    • Approximate 15% travel required.
    • Must be able to obtain security clearance pass.
    • PMP Certification required.
